        1. Facilitators were the means by which the Loyalty Virus was facilitated, spreading the Virus. Megan Yorke was/is the Prime Facilitator. Given her unusual physical nature, I suspect you can guess how the virus was implanted.

          1. Any idea if Megan is affected by the virus as well as a carrier?
I mean let’s face it she is bright, competent, and creative. If it weren’t for her loyalty to that bastard of a father, she would have a lot to offer the multiverses.

          2. I somehow had the impression the thing had been wiped out as a result of the events around and ‘death’ of Randol. That’s why she was in a coma when he died (see remarks in both stories and the reference to his/her infertility at the moment), the backlash of all of that, and the virus supposedly is no longer in play.

I wouldn’t care to comment on the nature of the feelings between her and Randol, but Swayvanna’s comments certainly weren’t kind. And really, even for a rather jaded taste, watching your daughter participate in a catfight/excrement play contest for the jollies of spectators in an effort to save a few bucks does sort of push the bounds of most fond fatherly spectating at a kid’s sporting event.

I think maybe I’d reserve judgement about Megan’s ultimate contribution to the multiverse until a bit more is known.

          3. I believe that would be ‘the loyalty virus that was in play is gone’, in time, there is no saying they can’t start again.

          4. Agreed. And presumably with loyalty 2.0 which wouldn t include some of the backlash problem they had first go round.

  1. As a suggestion, persons who are holding male, Egyptian, Gou’ald sarcophagi or who have deep sixed one, or placed it in third party storage; should immediately review and change their security arrangements.

Randol obviously has figured out both the coin to pay in and the means to find it in order to field the nucleus of a force. His arrangement with the Gou’ald queen would not have been made if he hadn’t been able both to see the events which allowed him to find what would appeal to her and to see how those events transpired. Using the device he won a chance at using from the Don, he may well have seen the location and protocols necessary to access the sarcophagi.

It might be a good idea to keep an eye on your male friends and relations as well, particularly if they are Corneilian and might make good hosts, the other half of his bargain that he needs to fulfill.

Its interesting that Megan appears to be the one traveling with him. Going back to the previous discussion, could it be the case that Swayvanna really did dump him, is it a spat, are they still together but she is off tending to another angle?

    1. Umm, you did catch that none of us know this information in character yet, right?

The recent business with Osiris also does indicate that suitable hosts for male Goa’uld do not have to be male.

      1. (OOC- Yes, I saw it was OOC to be come IC eventually as was the other post. Usually with stuff like this if something comes to mind you can say something like, “When or if my character is likely to find out I’d like to do X.” Tim’s pretty good about saying if you can or can’t or telling you when that might be possible to happen.

And we did talk about the previous post on the board as well, speculating on its possible impact and so on.

Is making this suggestion different? It seemed like something that people might want to consider doing, if it applied to them, as they became aware of the issue IC.

If I have offended you by posting I apologize although I was attempting to be helpful.)

You make a good point about the gender of the hosts. So perhaps just in general we should be using the buddy system and not walking down dark alleys as it were.

        1. (OOC- Not offended in the least. Thanks for clarifying.)

Buddy system is probably a good idea regardless. We live in a dangerous universe. Any of us who live alone could at least arrange regular check-ins so someone knows if you disappear. No one will come to your rescue until someone knows you are missing.

          1. We’d set up a buddy system/check-in for our female family members a while back due to some other threat intel, and refreshed the alert again after an incident where someone made an effort to bag me.

Most of our men have traditionally not been regarded as combatants, that has changed over the last several years.

I suppose we still have a lot of family bias still and tend to think of our women as targets and so for us, a special warning went out (will go out at appropriate time OOC) about our guys.

But your point is still well made and I’ll bring it up inside our family system.

It is important to remember to have a wing man, sometimes its just not possible for a situation though. I’ve had a few cases like that where there was no plan B. It just had to be that way for a variety of reasons, but its best to keep those cases as infrequent as possible.

  2. Apart from a bunch of people in the Federation that he’d like to feed to the Goa’uld (the Abrahams come to mind), at a guess they’d be looking for Cornellian, non shape-shifters without significant psyche.

    1. I may be wrong, but my understanding was they tied into your spinal column, and a shape shifter doesn’t necessarily need a spinal column to move and could well expel the parasite using it’s shape shifting. This is just supposition, I’m sure someone with greater practical knowledge could say whether that is the case or not.

      1. I’m not sure if being a shifter is a dis-qualifier.

I thought the Gou’ald mentally dominates the host and the battle occurs at that level primarily.

There may be a difference between the process for becoming a Gou’ald host and a Jafar in this respect, but I’m not clear on it.

My notes from Ani seem to suggest that shifters can become Gou’ald, but she could have been mistaken.

You might ask AC and Devon. My notes suggest Devon was at risk at one point during a mission where he, AC, Ani, Anabelle and others (player memory fail sorry) were taking over a Gou’ald ship…I believe it was the Aphrodite mission. Devon is a pilot, therefore a shifter.

        1. Shape shifters can get taken over. I’m actually thinking of asking a trusted mind mage to set up a reflex so that I shift to elemental form if a Goa’uld enters my body. That would get rid of my spinal column nicely.

          1. That is what I meant, in that a suitably strong minded shifter would be able to remove the Goa’uld from their body. Even if it was vaguely comparable, it might be possible to set off the change in time. But I agree shape shifting on it’s own does not mean you are immune but without it you are probably in a constant psychic battle so a significant psyche is very useful but I guess only partly useful.

  3. Shape shifters do have a few options for resistance such as turning into something without a spine, turning into something inimical to the Goa’uld, or kamikazi-ing into something incredibly damaging and counting on getting bucketted to survive. Unfortunately all of these options assume that the shifter is conscious and strong willed enough to fight off the Goa’uld takeover at least briefly.
