When dealing with demonic enemies, there is always the question of whether to bind or kill. The following information is known:
When a demon is killed in the normal realms of reality, they are in fact banished back to the demon realm, where they must remain for a period of time, before they can be summoned forth again. The period of time is believed to be shorter, the more powerful the demon. After the period of time has expired, that demon can only return to the normal realms if it is once again summoned forth, but no extraordinary measures are needed to accomplish such a summoning.
If a demon is bound, it remains immobilised in whatever form the binding takes for an essentially limitless period of time, unless the binding is removed. It cannot be summoned, without the binding first being removed, though it is known that an accomplished demonologist can tell if an attempted summoning has failed because the subject of his summoning was bound. To remove the binding requires locating the actual bound demon, and then expending of power greater than that which was used in the original binding at the site of the binding to break it. Once the binding is broken under these conditions, the demon is free, and not subject to any summoning controls.
Something inherent to demon nature seems to corrupt them and what they do. This makes them dangerous on a different level than the physical and magical challenge of stopping their activities.
For those that might be tempted to try out some of the summoning manuals that appear to be floating around let me suggest you 1) get your head examined, 2) DON’T, 3) if you are determined to press ahead with your folly read through them carefully and make sure that the manual you have ‘found’ or been ‘supplied’ is not missing several crucial features.
I recently destroyed a number of summoning books for demons which had omitted parts of the bindings and summoning controls.
I also recently helped an individual rid themselves of a book that they had been given as a ‘present’. The book was given to a mage who had recently come to the outside from the inside and was interested to discover that the ‘Curse’ and Roland’s prohibitions on blood magic did not appear to apply. The book was given by a servitor of the dark as part of a seduction and contained magic which was highly effective and extremely corrupting.
When the nature of the article and its origin was pointed out to the mage, she attempted to rid herself of its influence. While this was accomplished through the help of the Light and its servants, the woman was attacked, nearly murdered, her servants killed and every item she owned destroyed in a fire in retaliation for her attempt to rid herself of the item.
My suggestion is that you do not use or accept items of this kind. You don’t take candy from strangers, and you carry your sword and look both ways when crossing streets.
I nearly had my throat ripped out getting this individual free and removing the book she’d been given to a Servant of the Light who could destroy it safely. I suggest that anyone in possession of arcane items and summoning manuals of this kind exercise extreme caution.
