At the Court of King Random of Amber

At court in Amber, shortly following the Unicorn Day celebrations (after all of
the ACNW 2012 scenarios), King Random confirms the granting of the title of
Lady of Amber to Lady Linda Deneue (who was seen at Unicorn day with Martin).

He also confirms the title of Prince of Amber upon his son Martin, recently
returned from Rebma. He notably does not confirm Martin as Crown Prince.

He also confirms the appointment of General Lady Tamara Wellesley as the Amber
Ambassador to Animus, and confers upon her an honour guard of seven legions of
Amber troops ‘to ensure her safety as she travels to take up this new diplomatic
mission’.

He also confirms the resignation of Princess Fiona from the position of Mistress
of the Arcane of Amber, and expresses the heartfelt thanks of the Kingdom for her
long and dedicated service.

He also confirms the appointment of the Princess Alexandra (more regularly known
as Sand) as the new Mistress of the Arcane of Amber, and welcomes her to the
Sorcerer’s Tower. She will take up the position with immediate effect.

He also confirms the granting of the title Lady of Amber upon Lady Kendra Debayle,
the daughter of Princess Sand, who has come to Amber with her mother (Any
resemblance between Lady Kendra Debayle, and the late Duchess Kendra Bayle, former
wife of Julian, is purely coincidental. It is known that Sand’s mother was Harla
Bayle, mistress of Oberon during Dybelle’s reign as Queen).

He also announces that there will be a new festival to be inaugurated at the new
year feast called the Festival of Rhythm – celebrating drum music of all varieties
and types from across Shadow – the director of the festival to be Prince Martin.

He also confirms the granting of the title of Lady of Amber to Lady Anabelle
Richins, and that he has extended the invitation to his brother Julian, Prince of
Arden for Amber Palace to host the celebration of his marriage to Lady Anabelle at
the next Feast of Imbolc.

At no point does Random mention Merlin, Mandor, Bleys, Corwin, Parys, Haven or
Thelbane in any way.

He does express thanks his thanks to Queen Claire of Sable, also goddess of
healing in Eboracum, and all those who assisted her, in recognition of the great
service she has recently done for all of existence. He declines to mention what
that service might have been.

    “2 extra large pizzas with your choice of toppings, a forward military observer, er, Diplomatic Ambassador, and a 7 legion strong standing foreign army on your soil…um…honorary protection detail that is, and a 2 liter bottle of soft drink.”

    “I’m sorry Sir, no substitutions. But I can give you a complimentary order of bread sticks and delivery is FREE!”

  4. Do I recall the Wellesleys as having a very positive outlook on Animus? Or was it the other way around. Though Seven Legions does seem to be a vote of confidence.

  5. Yeah… the Defense Review that came out, they called me “a small-time commercial artist” and gave Animus a ‘C’ rating. I was a small-time forensic artist, thankyouverymuch.

    But yaknow? No hard feelings. It’s easy to judge from a place of ignorance.

  6. OOC- 7 legions to invade a Creation is about what you’d send if you expected some resistance and wanted to create a firm beachhead to establish control in a Capitol once order was restored and active hostilities ceased.

    Or, it would make a nice rear guard action to evacuate a Diplomat and stay on the field long enough to see how things were falling out before withdrawing in good order to leave your hosts in the “sh*t”.

    It is in that awkward range though…too large for an ordinary diplomatic force, too small for a full scale invasion, it either shouts “you people can’t be trusted to guard our Embassy and you are a hot mess so we’re putting enough boots on the ground so we can sleep at night” or “beachhead for a potential invasion if we get there and it looks more convenient to take over than to talk” or “we know stuff is headed your way and sending troops now will save time…we’ll be around to pick up the pieces after, enjoy your sovereignty while it lasted.”

    7 legions is sort of an insult and an instigation. Any other Embassy in town is going to have to take notice, and maybe gear up or get out. Rumors will instantly start about a potential military alliance or worse, that Amber is outright taking over…which will just incite other powers to preemptive action.

    OOC- this is a pretty aggressive way to stir the pot.

  10. I’m sure Jonathan’s got things under control given the situation. But I’ll repeat the sentiment, you’ve got my trump and are more than welcome to a quick evacuation and a place to crash if things don’t work out.

  12. Viscount Charles Wellesley, who wrote the Wellesley Defense Review, clearly has several irons in the fire, and I look forward to seeing which he brandishes when the next edition comes out.

    General Lady Tamara Wellesley is a flat-out lovely woman, and we are delighted to receive her and her retinue.

    Also Anabelle has set a date! OMG so exciting! Congratulations!

    1. I know nothing about Alexandra, but other recent changes on the wiki give me a pretty good idea what Claire did.

      I am amused by the thought that Jonathan could eventually reciprocate by sending an ambassador with an equal number of troops to Amber or the Reich. Rupert and Random set the precedent.
