Played By: Lee Bynum
Full Name: Special Agent Princess Anabelle of Arden, Duchess of Bayle
Shadow of Origin: St. James
Residences: Southern California, Sunnydale; Arden; New York, St. James and Bayle
Occupation: Apprentice Sorceress to Princess Fiona of Amber
Current Relationship to Spec Ops: Anabelle is still technically an Agent within Spec Ops. However, like many more senior members of the unit, she spends the majority of her time off world. Her trump has made a limited rounds in St. James and is in the Amber Family Deck. It is the easiest way to get a hold of Anabelle on short notice. Her St. James based number generally goes straight to voice-mail, but Anabelle is good about responding to phone calls and email within a few days.
Sorcery: Anabelle identifies herself as an “Apprentice Sorceress,” but that is a misnomer resulting from her distinction between Mages and Sorcerers. Anabelle is known to be a highly skilled Mage with full mastery of defensive, healing and illusory magics. In addition to her specialties, Anabelle is a well rounded student of general magics. Her current field of focus is in Pattern related magic.
Goa’uld Tech: During the early encounters with the Goa’uld, particularly Aphrodite, Anabelle acquired several odd technological devices. A brief period saturated with Aphrodite’s Kiss has left Anabelle with both a knack for influencing men and a unique insight into mind control.
It is an open secret that Anabelle is looking to acquire more Goa’uld tech, particularly processed Naquadah. She’s also known to have acquired enough Hat’taks to have donated to both the Amber and St. James Fleets.
Morality: A potential liability is Anabelle’s aversion to violence and refusal to kill. Anabelle very much believes herself to be amongst the ‘good guys’ and does not accept the ends justifying the means. That said, every mission in which she sees her fellow agents gun down the enemy does take its toll. Anabelle knows that some of what is done by Spec Ops isn’t clean. She justifies it by not taking part in the darker things and leaving the wet work to those more willing. It would be fair to say she’s something of a hypocrite.
Flexibility: While violence and killing are off the table, Anabelle is far more morally flexible when it comes to other things. Anabelle joined up in the Spec Op era of plunder and profit and that mindset hasn’t faded.
Following an incident regarding an unauthorized super suit, Anabelle spent some time in Leavenworth and demoted to Agent by the Mission Review Board. It has yet to be seen how she and the new administration will get along, but Anabelle is clearly skeptical of the new buttoned down approach to Spec Ops and they don’t approve of the way she tends to operate.
Anachronistic: Anabelle has been mostly off world since mid 2006. As a result, she simply isn’t up to speed on the past half decade or so of current events and pop culture. Thus more recent things, such as Obama or the ipad, are lost on her. In addition to being mentally fixed in time Anabelle has aged little since her trump was painted in 2005, remaining an apparent twenty-something.
Family: Anabelle is married to Prince Julian of Amber with one child, Alice. Anabelle also has a fairly mundane family in the Greater Boston Metropolitan Area that she talks about very little. Her younger brother, Kevin, walked Anabelle down the isle at her wedding but managed to keep a low profile during the event. Anabelle makes no claim of Cornelian or any other significant bloodline.
Alice, Anabelle’s only child, recently moved to Bayle to attend grammar school. Anabelle appears to be trying to keep a balance between the Amber family and a “normal” childhood, with mixed results.
