There has been much upheaval in the Federation recently – most clearly represented by the fact that Lincoln is the new President and is actually only the second president in the roughly 700 years of Federation history.
The death after a long illness of the previous president (Randol Yorke) took place in March 760, and after assuming executive authority as Vice President, Lincoln called a quick election to confirm his position. During a vicious campaign that resulted in a number of deaths and injuries of prominent Federation movers and shakers, Lincoln proved victorious.
