I used to be Laura Croft. You may have seen some films about me. They managed to find an actress who looked a lot like me to play the part. That was fiction though. The truth is much more weird.
My mentor and colleague on many a dig was Dr. Reynold Muldoon. When he came to me and said he’d got the scoop on the Forbin Project – it was too good to pass up.
So there we were – crawling down a hole in the forest on the back side of Cheyenne Mountain – and that’s where it all changed.
Jimmy Crae was already hooked into one of these suits – we’d had to after he got shot all to hell by an automated machine gun emplacement and it literally rebuilt him. And there was one that was styled on Silk Spectre. Call me kinky if you will, but the chance to get into Rey’s pants wearing a latex Silk Spectre outfit was just too much to resist.
Is there such as thing as a healthy addiction? I don’t think I can give an objective answer on that. The hardest thing I ever did was take that suit off again to let them de-program it, and as soon as it was declared available again, it went right back on. Without it I am weak. I feel slow. I feel ugly. I was pretty hot as Laura Croft, but now I am so much more as Laura Saturn.
Now there is a new Tomb Raider. I understand my first replacement dropped the ‘u’, and then emigrated and yet another new one is now in place. Actually – I don’t care. I’ve moved on.
